In the world of social media marketing, it can be hard to remember every social media platform that you can use to connect with your audience.  And since each platform is so different, it’s important to understand them so you’ll know how to approach each one individually.  Here are three articles that cover some basic tips for LinkedIn, Flickr, and Periscope.

Use LinkedIn Groups & Receive Tons of New Leads Daily

One of the best ways to generate new leads on LinkedIn is by creating a group.  Use keywords in the title and description of the group to maximize the chances of people finding your group when they search on Google.

Ask Questions & Build Your Credibility

Use LinkedIn Answers to ask questions.  And learn how to answer questions in a way that will build your credibility.  You can do this by providing links to websites with more information or recommending people that are experts on the question being asked.  Always offer to speak with the person in more detail privately.

Create Powerful Events

You can host events and invite thousands of people easily on LinkedIn.  You can see who is planning to go, and so can everyone that those people are connected to.  This might cause even more people to be interested in going.

Run an Advanced Search in Your Target Market

When you run an advanced search on LinkedIn, you can find new leads that are exactly who you are trying to reach.  And it can be done really easily.

Send Personal Messages

When you find a lead that might be interested in your company, send them a message that is as personal as possible.  Look at the person’s profile and try to connect with them in any way you can.

Your profile should have some basic information about your business.  It should be like an introduction for people who haven’t heard of you before.  And make sure you include links to your other social media pages and your website so that people can connect with you on different platforms.

Upload Photos of Your Products and Services

Post pictures that show your products, especially if you just came out with a new one.  If your business performs a service, showcase your employees at work.  You can also post pictures that show people how to use your products.

Describe Your Photo and Tag it Wisely

Make sure that there are keywords in the description of all of your pictures.  And you can use tags to include these keywords to help people find your content.

Join and Contribute to Groups

As with all social medias, Flickr is a community.  Find relevant groups to join and share pictures to them that the members will like.

Create Anticipation

Plan your broadcasts in advance and give people a few days of warning on Twitter.  This will build anticipation for the actual event.  Once you go live, be sure to share the link on Twitter.

Prepare Your Set Up

Make sure that you test your sound beforehand and know where you are going to be when you go live.  Also make sure that your phone has enough battery to make it through the entire broadcast.

Use Periscope Producer

Periscope Producer lets you stream live from a high-quality camera.  This gives you the opportunity to have a higher video quality than you could get from a phone or a tablet.

Choose a Catchy Title

Let viewers know what to expect from your broadcast based on the title.  Include descriptive words so they know what is going to happen.  You can also use emojis to help it stand out.

The key to a successful broadcast is to get people’s attention quickly.  Don’t do anything too long or drawn-out or people will stop watching.  You have to be able to get their attention and keep it.

Twitter Chats are full of people who are interested in something specific.  Find one that relates to your business and use it to promote your products or services.  You can also use it as an opportunity to connect with people.

Use IFTTT to Post Your Instagram Pictures

You can use IFTTT (If This, Then That) to automatically post your Instagram pictures to Twitter.  This will increase your engagement rates on those pictures because instead of showing up as a link, Twitter users will be able to see the actual image.

Strategically Look at Which Hashtags to Use

Hashtags are the best way to make sure that people that aren’t already following you will see your content.  Pick good hashtags so that you will reach as many people as possible.

Share Content More Than Once

Google+ has an Events feature which allows you to send out invitations to events to anyone, even people who aren’t on Google+.  This allows you to connect to the portion of your audience that doesn’t use Google+ all from the same platform.

Post Often and Optimize for Best Search Results

Make sure to include relevant keywords in your posts so that they will be more likely to appear on Google when someone searches for something related to one of your posts.  And make sure that you are posting content regularly.

Set Up Google Authorship for SEO Benefits

Google wants you to use Google+ and they will give you SEO benefits for being a part of it.  You have to identify yourself to Google through Google+ and link it to your content and you will see the benefits.

Find Relevant Users and Conversations to Engage With

This is the most important piece of advice for any social media platform.  You have to interact with the people in that community regularly.  Engage other users in conversation on both your personal page and your business page.
